| Abstract | The objective of this stude was to define the principal patterns of the seasonal and interannual variability of the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index ( NDVI ) for the Northeast region of Brazil. For this purpose mean monthly and annual values of NDVI derived from the AVHRR/NOAA sensor data for the period of 1981-90 were used. The common principal spatial and temporal factors were calculated by employing the factorial analyses of the principal components. From these spatial and temporal principal common factors nine ( 09 ) homogeneous sub-regions of NDVI were identified in relation to the seasonal and interannual variabilities of NDVI in the Northeast region of Brasil. |
